For Christmas my dad was generous enough to buy my mum, sister and myself tickets to see the musical Dream Girls! So it was a cute girls day out with the other dream girls in my life!
We had tickets to the matinee performance at 2:30 pm, so we caught the train to Kings Cross around midday, allowing ourselves plenty of time to find the place or get lost… especially if we are following my mum!
Dream Girls was on at The Savoy theater at The Strand so we hopped on the tube! Arriving around an early we wandered in some of the shops and stopped for a coffee and a small bite to eat before going into the theater.
I was so excited to see this musical as the film was so so amazing and the award-winning Amber Riley was starring in this showing as Effie White!! And I was ready to sing my little heart out to some of the songs (apologies to the audience).
One gin and tonic down we were sat in our seats ready for the show to begin! Our tickets were under restricted view as we were the front row of the grand circle tier, but this was no problem as we only had to lean forward in our seats slightly to see the front of the stage. At first, I think we all gave each other a look and thought this could feel very long sat like this but the time literally flew by!!!
This musical was INCREDIBLE! I cannot describe to you how good it was! The singing and dancing were amazing and Amber Riley’s voice gave me goosebumps and made my mum cry (although we are not surprised here!). We all couldn’t stop singing One Night Only for the rest of the night and we all said we could easily go and see it again!
It was still early and wanting to make the most of our day we headed to Covent Garden for some drinks! We had dinner booked at STK so had some time to kill. We went to All Bar One but I and Sian (my sister) remembered we had gone to this really cool bar before which sold XL, and I mean XL, pornstar martinis!
The bar was called Mabel’s just behind Covent Garden! We were so happy that we remembered this bar as it was so cool having a cocktail this size! Queue the mini photoshoot we had with it too haha typical blogger!
Now feeling slightly tipsy, it was time for some food so we headed to STK for our reservation. STK is one of my sister’s favorite restaurants and when all three of us was in New York a few years ago we went, and therefore my sister thought it would be a lovely idea to make it a ritual when we do something special together! It is a very cool and modern steakhouse and lounge that offers fine dining! It was very luxurious and a very nice meal! I had the best dessert ever so if you go have the Peanut Choco Cocktail (peanut crunch, milk chocolate mousse, and a chocolate cremeux), heavenly!!!
After dinner, we headed back home! It was a brilliant girls day out and a lovely gift from my dad so thank you! I would tell everyone to see Dream Girls as it was honestly the best ever!!
Until next time,
India and Cole
